On a cold, foggy morning in the spring I took the intimidating hike up Nob Hill in San Francisco to the Nob Hill Spa at The Huntington Hotel. I was solo on this trip, so had a book in hand and was looking forward to a quiet morning to myself.
I arrived at the front desk, which was inside the wonderful spa shop with lots of great products, clothes and small items. Once I checked in, I was escorted to the women’s facilities and given a quick tour.
The women’s facilities had a steam room and sauna which I enjoyed both. After indulging in each, I grabbed a water and went and sat in the indoor pool area, which is perched high above the streets of San Francisco giving you a great view of the city. I dipped my feet in the pool while couples sat around me sipping mimosas and coffee engaging in deep conversation.
I was running a half marathon the next day, so I opted for a nice relaxation massage. I was not disappointed. The masseuse was incredible. The room, music and ambiance were all perfect on this Saturday morning.
After the massage, I was shown the relaxation room, which was my heaven. By this time the spa traffic had picked up a bit, so the pool area was a little more social and I wanted peace and quiet. This spa was spacious enough to have both. I spent the next few hours tucked away from the busy world outside, only to be interrupted on occasion by a spa attendant making sure I was good.
The Nob Hill Spa has everything you need for a relaxing spa experience: a zen room, whirlpool, sauna, eucalyptus steam room, indoor pool and fireplace lounge. The spa menu covers everything from facials to seaweed wraps and nails. This is a great spa to escape the cold weather with friends or alone. I look forward to my return visit.
