For those of us that love a relaxing spa ritual before a massage, look no further than The Phoenician Spa at The Phoenician, A Luxury Collection Resort, Scottsdale. When we arrived at the spa, we were greeted with plush robes, a locker, and shoes. But then we were introduced to the 30 minute pre-massage spa ritual that helped set the stage for the rest of our experience. We started with five (5) minutes in the dry sauna to help with muscle recovery. We then moved to the steam room for another five (5) minutes to help flush out toxins and clear out our sinuses. We then endured a refreshing 30-second cold shower to help stimulate circulation, followed by a five (5) minute rest on a bed that felt like we were floating on air. After our quick rest, we dipped into the vitality hot tub for ten (10) minutes to boost our immune system and relax while taking in the serenity of Camelback Mountain (the 1.23 hike mile hike we did that morning, where we ascended approximately 1,280 ft). One more 30-second cool shower to regulate our body temperature, another five (5) to ten (10) minute rest before our treatment, and a sip of complimentary infused water is how we finished off our spa ritual before we were called back for our treatments. Once we finished our incredible treatments, we lounged a little longer in the co-ed relaxation lounge and soaked in some sun by the rooftop pool. Next time we visit, I am checking out the Tranquility Suite – who doesn’t like Gruet and chocolate covered strawberries!
